Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information T&J Roofing & Gutters collects when you get in touch with us or we carry out work for you, what we do with it, and what rights you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than legal jargon.

Who we are

What we collect

When you ask us for a quote or we carry out work for you, we typically collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your address, so we can survey and carry out the work
• Your email address
• Details of your enquiry, including the job you need doing, photos you send us, and any notes from site visits

We don't collect anything beyond what we need to quote for and carry out roofing work, or that you choose to share with us.

Why we collect it

We use your information to provide you with a quote, arrange and carry out roofing work, and keep in touch with you about your job, for example confirming appointments or following up after work is finished. If you've agreed to it, we may also use your contact details to let you know about other services we offer.

Our lawful basis for using it

Under UK GDPR, we need a valid reason (“lawful basis”) to use your personal information. We rely on:

• Legitimate interest, to respond to your enquiry, provide quotes, and carry out and manage the work you've asked us to do.
• Consent, where we contact you for marketing purposes, such as letting you know about other services. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We use a customer relationship management (CRM) provider to keep track of enquiries, quotes and job records, so your details may be stored with that provider on our behalf. We don't sell your information, and we only share it with other third parties where we're required to by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we have an ongoing relationship with you, for example while a quote is live or work is ongoing, and for a further period afterwards to meet our legal and tax obligations, typically up to six years. After that, it's deleted or anonymised, unless you've asked us to delete it sooner (see below).

This website doesn't use tracking or analytics cookies.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
• Ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate or out of date
• Ask us to delete your information (see how to request this below)
• Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information
• Ask for your information in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, for anything we use consent as the basis for, such as marketing

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to sort things out directly first.

How to request deletion

To ask us to delete your personal information, or to exercise any of the other rights above, email tandjroofingandguttering@gmail.com with your name and the details of your request. We'll respond within one month. Note that we may need to keep some information, including records relating to completed work, where we have a legal obligation to do so, such as for tax purposes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
